Features of sea fishing.
This year I had spring fishing in Cyprus. In may here have begun the tourist season and already swimming in a sea of tourists. But, even passing a number of divers do not disturb the fishing. The fish in the sea doesn’t go far from their habitat, and just hides in the rocks and cliffs at the approach of man. I had to see while Snorkelling, as flocks of pretty big fish is rapidly rushing between the legs of the people bathing in search of food. Cypriots joke that this fish put on a show to attract tourists! To see the amazing underwater inhabitants do not need scuba gear! While Snorkelling at a depth of no more than two meters, I am able to watch the life of underwater inhabitants in their natural environment. I saw two small fish chased away from the place of residence of the approaching fish parrot. Observed from a distance of no more than 1 metre in hunting the Barracuda. Admired the leisurely life of sea urchins and sea stars. And to describe the beauty of venomous snakes, glaring in the sun, not possible. Their emerald ultramarine body with road legs under water, looks like swimmers lost jewel. But I think I got carried away… Back to the specifics of fishing in the Mediterranean sea.
Fishing from shore can be literally anywhere! And it does not matter on what depth you will catch. Even at a depth of 0.5 meters I was able to catch the delicious kurkun. But when fishing at a depth of more than two meters I was just shocked attack my bait BULLS. For all of my fishing in Cyprus, I have never come across gobies and I naively believed that in the Mediterranean there is this ubiquitous fish. And in this day all my fishing is casting, hooking, fooling with removing the hook from the jaws of this voracious fish and releasing the bull in the water. All gobies were not of marketable size. The only fish of suitable size, caught on this fishing trip, was not edible greenfinch. And next caught a very tasty fish my brother-in-law and smiled mysteriously.
Then he explained to me that in this case you need to change your fishing spot. And it is not necessary to move to another place. Enough to move 2-3 meters to the side. Christ, like, I’m a fisherman with years of experience and I’m a little sensitive to his prompts, but I don’t understand his categorical rejection of the spindle-shaped floats. He catches at sea exclusively on short floats, although I see better bite (at constant sea state) it was stretched on floats with a thin antenna. For a long time I could not understand the attachment Cypriot fishermen to use thin lines!
The most popular diameters lines for coastal fishing are the diameters from 0.12 to 0.2 mm. Last year, when using thin lines, I broke off three tackle big fish! But, in a conversation with an old Turkish Cypriot, I heard a brilliant phrase: “the Big fish bite 1 out of 100. Better I catch 99 small fish and 1 time repaired tackle, what I’m going to sit with no bites in anticipation of the big fish”! It would seem that using the clutch to avoid breakage when a big fish bites, but for coastal fishing Cypriot fishermen use 7-8 meter very light rods. To keep the rod constantly in his hands, and the presence of the conductive rings and the coil makes the rod heavy enough. This is preferable to the rod with the “deaf” snap-in. And I want to tell you about one particular of sea fishing which I understand literally on yesterday’s fishing. Yesterday was a fairly strong wind, but the fishermen on the shore was quite a lot.
We stopped on the steep Bank, with a depth of 4-5 meters from the shore. Fishing was difficult because of the strong wind 7 meter bending the rod into an arc. Despite this, we periodically pulled kurkun and scarecow. After a while, next to us was occupied by two fishermen. In less than five minutes, as Christ showed to the fishermen and said they were from Russia. I asked why he made such a conclusion. His answer was quite unexpected: “They are carp in the sea”. It turned out that they throw away the bait and follow the bait into the water, flying a few balls of bait! Even I felt funny. The fact is that saltwater fish don’t stand still eating the bait, as the carp. Sea fish always stays with the pack. This finding feed, marine fish grabs a piece carried away and so on. She knows that all else will bring the rest of the fish.
This is why the bite is always sharp and strong! To attract marine fish use liquids or flour mixed with oil from canned fish! Moreover, the flour being brought to this state when it becomes crumbly and in water was not formed lumps. The essence of the marine bait is in the water there was a smell of feed and the fish started looking for the bait, and find your bait!
